St Paul's protest
From last month....I almost missed my opportunity to do this sketch. The Occupy London protesters where evicted by the police later that evening.

Bollards
There are bollards like these dotted all around the City of London, of many different shapes and sizes. These ones are in the small streets/lanes just south of Smithfield meat market, EC1.

Almost complete
I work near The Shard and have watched it slowly grow over the last couple of years. When complete it will be the tallest building in the EU. It is due for completion later this year

The Wellcome Collection Museum
Some of the weird and wonderful items on display at the Medicine Man exhibition at this interesting little museum in Euston Road. The items were collected by Henry Wellcome who was a philanthropist and patron of science, and founder of the museum.
I dropped my pen while sketching these, it bounced off my shoe and under a huge cabinet. The gap was too narrow to fit my hand in. Almost gave up recovering it but finally managed to free it by rolling up an Evening Standard I had in my bag. Got a few strange looks and a visit from the security guard.
Painted wooden mask from Bhutan and various amputation saws.

Senate House
This imposing building is part of the University of London. I've walked through it many times. The foyer is nearly always open and it's a good short cut to get from Malet Street to Russell Square. It looks more Manhattan than London. There was filming going on there a few months ago when I walked past.
Lumen Church
This church is near my old flat. It was redesigned a few years go. The interior is divided in two by an impressive feature called 'Shalf of Light' - a massive white cone which rises up from the floor towards a light hole in the roof. There is a geometric metal sculpture mounted in the front window. There is a good cafe in the front too. My drawing does not do it justice.

Working from home
The view from my kitchen table out into the Barbican complex. Beyond the balcony and planter box is the tower of St Giles Church and beyond that Andrewes House and city office buildings. Looking forward to summer when it's warm enough to use the balcony.

Homeward bound...
after an excellent weekend in Budapest
Visited Budapest recently for a long weekend. Beautiful city. This is the view from Platz cafe/restaurant in St Stephen's Square. The food there was excellent and a perfect spot to sketch the fountain.

BT Tower
There was talk the revolving restaurant at the top of the BT Tower, which closed down in 1980, was going to reopen in 2012 in time for the Olympics. But now sadly and much to my disappointment there's talk that it's not going to happen. I was looking forward to going. The only way you can visit the tower is to go on a tour during Open House London Weekend. But there are limited places. I have applied the last two years but haven't been lucky enough to get a place.
BT have recently removed all of the redundant dishes from the platforms.
